A Year in the Life (A ?? Part Series)

I’m realizing, as I type this, how funny it is that I’ve decided to write after a long period of time has passed and my now fiancé(more on this later!) is building another dining room table. If you are in need of a dining room table, we’ve got one for you!(includes 4 chairs). I won’t post photos as I am quite impressed with the craftsmanship on this table and I want it to be a surprise. Benches are still in progress anyways. This is making me think we should open up an etsy shop and sell barn doors and dining tables. I’d say it’d be pretty profitable.

Anyways, it seems from my last post a lot has happened. We went on our annual trip to Hawaii(this time back to Oahu) and unsuspecting me did not think much of my boyfriend’s desire to carry around the GoPro everywhere or his nervousness whenever I looked through our backpack. I was so oblivious even up to the point when he perfectly placed the GoPro wedged in lava rock facing the sunset on the beach. He had to take my phone from me as I was trying to photograph the sky for me to realize what was going on. I was so shocked and overwhelmed with love and comfort and I just…ugly cried. I ugly cried so much, he thought I was going to say no. He told me he teared up because he thought that was my answer, but I finally came down from this dreamy state and voiced the most surest “yes” i’ve ever said in my lifetime. And this was all caught on camera. Thank goodness the sound of the waves drowned out my hideous ugly crying. But yes, I really thought I was dreaming. Never did I think that my fiancé could plan something this romantic and he pulled it off. He was nervous and he told me he planned to say more than he did, but it was just as beautiful. This all happened on August 21st, 3 days into the vacation. He told me he couldn’t wait any longer. He said the following months after moving in together, he thought to himself, “I could do this for the rest of my life” I love this man. Everyday I thank God for such an amazing man.

I also wanted to share that it was thundering a bit with a hint of lightning after the proposal, but no rain. I’d like to think it was parents congratulating us 🙂

The Hunt is Officially Over.

Prior to the few weeks of being sick..or maybe it was right in the middle of it..we finally bought our new dining table! We spent a few days figuring out if we wanted to build it or if we would just go out and buy it. Since we’ll be making the coffee table, tv stand, and barn door for the closet we decided not to take on the project of making the table(and the chairs, not to mention). We spent the few hours we had after weekday dinners scoping out target, cost plus, home goods, etc. Never would we ever thought to buy it from IKEA…but guess where we got ours?! Yes, IKEA. We gave in to their airy showrooms and IKEA breakfast and bought our natural finish dining room set for $150 bucks. We can both agree it was a great purchase and we’re super excited not having to stand up in the kitchen rushing through dinner.

I’m also working on my domestic duty of cooking, so I’ve had a few trial and error dinners, but above is the celebratory “New Dining Room Table Dinner” we had: Honey Garlic Shrimp with asparagus and rice 🙂

And below you can see my goddaughter, Emi, enjoying a pleasant brunch one Saturday morning ❤

Refreshing breath of life..

after a ton of condo renovation work and it’s starting to feel like our own. We’ve done so much to our condo in such a short amount of time. We’ve painted and replaced the carpet with laminate in under a month with some small projects in between. I think it looks great and I’m so glad we decided to change it up rather than settle with what it was. Now it’s (going to be) a reflection of us. Although I feel the foundation of our relationship is quite strong, I know that this living space just reinforces it.

(Above is a before and after picture of our room)

It’s only been about 2 weeks since officially moving in and we just ordered in a couch and a bed frame. We learned that Living Spaces can have some affordable stuff, you just have to look hard enough. We went to their showroom one weekend and the names of some of the furniture just seemed to call to my boyfriend.

We didn’t end up getting any of these. However we did buy the couch from their “Alenya” collection.

This first post won’t seem like much although I know I do have a lot to say with such little space to pour it all into (and very little concentration because  I believe our filipino neighbors are doing some karaoke again), but just know I’ll be posting more on our struggle and blessing of living on our own and together 🙂
